Butterfly for Danielle

Carol currently teaches at Maryville University and is an internationally recognized artist. Water provides the setting for much of her work, representing the strongest visual impression of human activity.

Inspiration:

My butterfly is dedicated to my friend, Danielle Barrier Harmon. She was a mother, friend and artist. She inspired many who crossed her path with her creativity, joy and love for her family.

I enjoyed painting the butterfly, especially the delicacy of the wings. There was an explosion of color. I tried to represent two types of butterflies with my painting – a blue morpho on one side and a monarch butterfly on the underside. Working on my “Butterfly for Danielle” was an especially rewarding time because people dropped by the studio often to check in on my progress.
