After students at The College School learned more about the power of Expressive Therapy and its impact on families, the project came to life! Everyone involved was moved after seeing incredible drawings from some of the children in the Wings program. This inspiration led to the moving design of Colorfly.
“Colorfly" is a collaboration between 16 students and their teacher. The Middle School 3-D class at The College School met their butterfly on the first day of school in September. The large white sculpture captured their attention immediately but it was a visit from Janet (JJ) Telletin, Expressive Therapist for Wings and a former parent in the TCS community, that proved to be the powerful inspiration for the small group of students.
JJ shared a book of drawings from a young girl who she had worked with for 10 years. It was a moving moment when she talked about her connection with this girl and the art created during their time together. With that in mind, the word “Hope” is painted on the base in languages from around the world.
