Maura is an illustrator, painter, sculptor and mural artist. She brings a sense of global perspective to her works whether it is on the Globe Stage in London or exhibiting her mural art in Zambia.

Inspiration:

I am inspired by the butterfly itself. It is such a lovely, peaceful creature and I allowed the insect to spread its wings in my mind and by my hand. Keeping the color simple and monochromatic allowed me to focus more on each line weight, modest color changes, and each butterfly's shape, creating a true likeness of the original image. All the butterflies painted to generate this rhythm of lines and images on the sculpture live in Missouri.

The support I had to make this piece possible has really showed me that so many people believe in my skill set.  Now to see the piece move out of my studio and into someone else's hands gives a true sense of accomplishment.
