Nancy’s interest in art goes back to when she was a young child. Since then, as a free-lance artist, she has created many works, including wood sculpture, pen and ink drawings, acrylic paintings, architectural renderings, and three-dimensional models.

Inspiration:

My butterfly, “Heaven Bound,” is a tribute and memorial to Ryan Hawn, who lived only six months due to spinal muscular atrophy. The Wings nurses were so supportive to the Hawn family during their difficult time. My inspiration came from the sky the day of the funeral. It was a beautiful, although painful, day and we held on to the fact that Ryan was in heaven. The title, “Heaven Bound,” came naturally. The base of the butterfly was inspired by the memorial garden where he was laid to rest.

Airbrushing the butterfly has been a labor of love. The memories of such a sweet baby and his family have remained in my heart.
