Genevieve is a mixed media artist who has won awards for her album cover art and was a selected artist for the University City Roaring Lions Project. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and art galleries throughout St. Louis.

Inspiration:

In designing my butterfly, I was inspired by the changing weather and global warming of the planet. The name of my butterfly, “Le Milieu Mode,” means “Environmental Mode” in French. There is a lot of energy and movement in my piece, which represents the unusual weather Mother Earth has been demonstrating due in part to a lack of ecological respect. We need to understand the true beauty and uniqueness of our world and become better stewards of the planet.

In doing this project, I enjoyed painting on a large surface and expressing myself with paint. Painting the butterfly reminded me of how precious our lives are, and like the wings of the butterfly, how quickly time flies.
