Let-Her-Fly

Pam is an art teacher at Andrews Academy in Creve Couer. She shares her creativity and talent with her students and serves to inspire them artistically and with her giving spirit.

Inspiration:

My butterfly is covered with letters taken from photos I took of signs around St. Louis at landmarks such as Busch Stadium and the St. Louis Zoo. After printing the photos, I cut the pictures apart into individual letters to make a collage on the butterfly’s wings. The title of my butterfly, “Let-Her-Fly” is a play on words having to do with the letters.

I am an elementary school art teacher, and I really wanted my butterfly to be kid friendly. I chose colors that are bright and eye catching, and used materials that are used daily in the art classrooms. I enjoyed sharing my progress on my butterfly with my students. I hope that anyone looking at my butterfly will feel a sense of childish freedom.
