Arcturis is a multi-disciplined design firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Arcturis provides planning, landscape architecture, urban design, interior design, graphic design support services and technology solutions for the healthcare and hospitality industries, public facilities, communities, financial institutions, and higher education.

Inspiration:

The sculpture’s wings will look like a familiar butterfly from a distance, but upon closer focus reveals the complexity of its composition. Its beauty takes shape from thousands of images depicting cheerful children’s faces. The result is two-fold: First, the play on scale suggests the distinct character of every child and the joy they bring to the people whose lives they touch. Second, each component of services provided by Wings creates the complex fabric of the greater effort at hand.

Our favorite aspect of the project is the discovery that one makes upon closer inspection. One look will never be enough to understand the whole story – this concept also holds true for our butterfly, “Pic-a-Bu,” and the children it represents.
