Karen specializes in beautiful mosiacs. From her collection of scrap glass she creates beautiful designs of whimsical birds, flowers, and people and applies them to salvaged window sashes.

Inspiration:

My butterfly, “Reflections of Love,” is designed to honor a sweet baby boy who lost his life to Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and to honor his family who loved him. I designed the butterfly thinking of it as a means of transport to heaven, flying upward through the sky to the stars. The blue and white base represents the sky and freedom from disease and pain. The colors are there to delight children. Tiny angels hidden within the mosaic represent hope. Children can see themselves in the mirrors, and also represent love “reflecting.” Love bounces between all of us like light, never ending, always continuing. There seems to be no limits for loving, especially between a parent and a child.
